Wooden barns have become an endangered architectural species since I photographed this one in northeastern Oregon, almost forty years ago. Once a hub of farm and ranch activity, their roles were steadily diminished by newer and more efficient technologies. Today, if you can find one, it’s likely to be alone in a field, surrounded by crops right up to the doors.
The Sunday Scan features images taken on film before 2003. They’ve been digitized using a Nikon Coolscan V ED scanner, and processed using Photoshop and Silverfast software.
