The Sunday Scan: Firewall

When a ferocious fire destroyed a local department store in the 1970s, the camera store on the other side of its firewall survived. After cleaning up from smoke damage, it enjoyed another decade of business there before moving to another location.

I happened by one day and the wall was too good to pass up. My memory of it is as vivid as the Kodachome colors the blaze left behind—taken with a Minolta SRT 101 and Rokkor 85 1.7 lens.

The Sunday Scan features images taken on film before 2003. They’ve been digitized using a Nikon Coolscan V ED scanner, and processed using Photoshop and Silverfast software.
